How do I set up Intelligent Octopus Go?

You can connect to the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff in a few different ways, such as your car or your charger but only with one device at a time.

If you have an Ohme charger, we would advise choosing this option. You connect your Ohme charger by logging into your Ohme account during the tariff setup.

If you want to connect your car instead, you’ll need to disconnect your Ohme account from the charger. This stops any mix-ups between Octopus Energy controlling your car’s charging and Ohme controlling the charger.

Get started

To start the process of connecting your Ohme account with the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, open the Octopus Energy app and tap the “Devices” tab at the bottom of the screen.

Then, tap “Add Device” to begin.

Select device

During the setup process in the Octopus Energy app you will be asked which device you would like to integrate with.

Here we can see the first three options: Battery, Electric Vehicle, and Heat pump. Select Electric Vehicle to continue.

Select your vehicle

After confirming that your charger is plugged in, you will need to select your vehicle make and model from the list of options provided.

Select your Ohme charger

After selecting your EV, you’ll then need to select “Ohme” from the list of charger brands.

Next, you can pick your charger model from the list. If you’re unsure of which model you have, you can check this via your Ohme App on the “My Charger” page.

Connect your device

Once you have read and agreed to the terms and conditions of the tariff, depending on the EV you own there are two possible outcomes at this stage in the setup:

Option 1: If you have a compatible EV you will automatically be taken to your car account login. This will connect your EV to the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff and charging will be controlled via the Octopus Energy app.

Option 2: If you don’t have a compatible EV you will see the Ohme login portal. This will connect your Ohme charger to the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff and charging will be controlled via the Ohme app.

If you have an Ohme charger it is recommended to connect your Ohme charger instead of your EV. This ensures a seamless update to the way you currently charge via the Ohme app.

How to connect to your Ohme charger

With a compatible EV selected in the Octopus Energy app, you will only see the car account login.

To access the Ohme login portal, send an email to [email protected] and request to connect the tariff to your Ohme charger using the following email template:

Subject: Request to link Intelligent Octopus Go with my Ohme charger

Hi Octopus Smart Product team,
I’m about to set up Intelligent Octopus Go and would like to connect it to my Ohme charger rather than my EV.
Please update my account so that I can link my Ohme charger during the setup.

Thank you,
[Your full name]
[Your Octopus Energy account number]

Log in to your Ohme account

Once Octopus have confirmed the setup has been updated, the Ohme login portal will be shown and you can log in with your Ohme account.

You will need to select the login method used when creating the account the charger is currently paired to. If you used an existing Facebook, Google or AppleID tap the button below to login.

Please note: If the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff is linked to your electric vehicle, Ohme will not be involved in the scheduling of your charging, or provide charging data to Octopus for billing purposes. Therefore, any billing concerns must be escalated with Octopus directly.

Set up complete

Finally, once you have confirmed the authentication between Ohme and Octopus, and completed a short test of the connection, the “Devices” section of your Ohme app will show your Ohme charger.

In the Ohme app, your tariff information will also update automatically to confirm the integration was successful.

And that’s it! Now you’ve successfully integrated your Ohme account with the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, you can use the Ohme app to control and schedule your charging. Remember, smart charging can occur outside the usual 11:30pm – 5:30am off-peak times as Octopus and Ohme help you make use of additional cheap slots throughout the evening.
