How to set my tariff in the Ohme app

Ohme uses your tariff information to estimate the cost of your charging sessions. It will also allow you to use features such as the Price cap, which will allow you to schedule your charging for the cheapest times.

Note: Ohme will never bill you directly for the energy used to charge the car. We only use the tariff information to work out when it’s cheaper to charge and estimate your charge costs.

Updating my tariff information

  1. Check your address is set correctly in the Ohme App > Settings
  2. Go to Settings > My tariff to see the tariff information currently selected
  3. To update your tariff information, tap the ‘Select a new tariff’ button
  4. Select your Energy supplier
  5. Select your tariff
  6. Tap ‘Done’ to finish.

My Tariff isn’t listed

If your electricity supplier or tariff is not listed, you can set up the tariff information manually by creating a custom tariff. You will usually find all of the details you’ll need on your electricity bill.

Follow the steps below to to create your tariff. 

  1. In your Ohme app, go to ‘Settings’ > ‘My Tariff’ > ‘Select a new tariff’
  2. Tap ‘My supplier/tariff isn’t listed’ at the bottom of the screen
  3. At the top of the screen, enter the name of your tariff
  4. Select one of the following options:  
    • Single Rate = If you have one price applied for day and night
    • Dual Rate = If you have an off-peak window during the day or night where electricity is cheaper 
    • Multi Rate = if you have multiple off-peak windows, or if your rates differ per day of the week
  5. Enter the price in pence per kWh of your standard rate, and the prices/ times of your off-peak window if applicable
  6. Confirm your time zone
  7. Confirm if your meter runs on daylight savings (you can check this with your energy supplier directly).
  8. Tap ‘Save’ to review your tariff information
  9. Tap ‘Done’ to finish.

Here we can see a dual rate tariff has been added with the following settings:

Peak rate: 35p
Off-peak rate: 10p
Off-peak times: 12am – 5am

Ohme will prioritise scheduling charge during the cheaper hours, only spilling over into the peak times if required to meet the target set by the ready by time. With a Price cap Ohme will exclusively schedule charge during the off-peak hours, even if it means you may not reach the target set.
