You might qualify for the OZEV Grant if you meet the following criteria:
- You own, lease, or have ordered a qualifying electric vehicle.
- You have dedicated off-street parking at your property.
- Your EV charger installation is carried out by an OZEV-approved installer.
- You have not previously claimed the existing EVHS grant (or its predecessor, the Domestic Recharge Scheme)
- Live in a rented property or own a flat
You can find a full list of qualifying criteria here.

The OZEV Grant can cover up to 75% of the cost of installing an electric vehicle charging station at your home, with a maximum contribution of £500.
4. What if I am receiving my charger through the Motability Scheme, do I still need to apply for the OZEV Grant?
Yes, if you meet the eligibility criteria, Ohme and the Motability Scheme still request customers to apply for the Ozev grant.
5. How do I apply for the OZEV Grant?
To apply for the OZEV Grant, you typically need to:
- Visit the OZEV Portal and set up a free account.
- Fill in your application – it’s just a few simple questions, and you’ll need to attach some documents.
- OZEV will check your application. If it’s approved, they’ll send you a code to add to your home survey.
For more info please visit our Help Centre here.
If OZEV says you’re not eligible, don’t worry – we may still be able to go ahead with your installation. Just get in touch and let us know what they said.
6. What documents will I need to provide?
During your application, you will need to upload all required eligibility evidence directly to OZEV, including (where applicable):
- Written permission from your landlord, freeholder or property manager to install the charge point
- A copy of your tenancy agreement (if renting)
- Proof of dedicated off-street parking
- A utility bill with your full name and the address where the charge point will be installed
Once you’ve received approval for your grant, Ohme will also be notified. OZEV estimates up to 10 working days to assess applications and claims, provided no additional evidence is required. However, we encourage you to apply as soon as you have started your installation process with us.
7. Can I still proceed with installation if I’m ineligible for the OZEV Grant?
Yes, you can still proceed with the installation of your EV charging station even if you do not qualify for the OZEV Grant.
