The OZEV Grant, also known as the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles Grant, is a government initiative in the UK designed to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). It provides financial assistance to help cover the cost of installing an EV charging station at home.
2. Do I qualify for the OZEV Grant?
You might qualify for the OZEV Grant if you meet the following criteria:
- You own, lease, or have ordered a qualifying electric vehicle.
- You have dedicated off-street parking at your property.
- Your EV charger installation is carried out by an OZEV-approved installer.
- You have not previously claimed the existing EVHS grant (or its predecessor, the Domestic Recharge Scheme)
- Live in a rented property or own a flat

3. How much can I save with the OZEV Grant?
The OZEV Grant can cover up to 75% of the cost of installing an electric vehicle charging station at your home, with a maximum contribution of £350.
4. What if I am receiving my charger through the Motability scheme, do I still need to apply for the OZEV Grant?
Yes, if you meet the eligibility criteria, Ohme and Motability still request customers to apply for the Ozev grant. You’ll receive an email from DVLA address with the link to the form. The survey takes less than 4 minutes to complete and won’t require any photos or video but only for you to confirm some information on your property and the car leased through Motability.
5. How do I apply for the OZEV Grant?
To apply for the OZEV Grant, you typically need to:
- Once you’ve started your installation application, our team will identify whether you’re eligible for the grant.
- If you are, we’ll make the initial application to OZEV on your behalf and let you know via email.
- You’ll then receive an email from OZEV with a link to complete a survey with a bit more information required to claim the grant.
- Once your installation is complete, our team will submit details including installation photos and completion documentation provided by your installer to OZEV for review.
- OZEV will then either approve or reject the payment for the claimed amount.
6. What happens after I apply for the OZEV Grant? Once your application is submitted by your installer:
- The grant application will be reviewed by the relevant authorities.
- If approved, the grant amount will be deducted from the total cost of your installation.
- Your installer will inform you once everything is completed and the charging station is ready for use.
7. Can I still proceed with installation if I’m ineligible for the OZEV Grant?
Yes, you can still proceed with the installation of your EV charging station even if you do not qualify for the OZEV Grant.
