How do I complete my online home survey?

Ohme home survey on mobile

Before your charger can be installed, we’ll need to ask you some questions about your home and energy usage. Your answers will be used to help plan your installation and to provide you with an accurate quote for the work.

Completing your home survey is easy, but some of the questions are a bit technical. So, if you need a hand, we’re here to help.

What information do I need to provide?

We need some details about your property so that we can understand what is needed to install your charger. We’ll ask you some questions about your home, including what type of house you have and where you park your car. Next we’ll ask you some questions about your energy, which includes taking photos of your fusebox and your incoming supply. Finally, we’ll ask you some questions about your installation requirements such as where you’d like your charger to be installed. This information helps us to prepare your installation plan and finalise your cost.

How do I sketch a cable route?

On a piece of paper, sketch out an aerial floor plan of your home showing where your electricity meter and fusebox are located, as well as where you’d like your Ohme charger to be installed. If possible, include distances between each spot and as much detail as possible to help us assess your installation requirements. Sketching a clear floor plan helps our installation experts plan the best cable route and charger location.

Tips for taking pictures & videos

We’ll need you to take a few photos of things like your parking spot and your fusebox, so we recommend completing your home survey on a mobile phone or tablet. Taking photos and videos during the daytime or in good lighting is best, as we’ll need a clear view to prepare your installation plan. Blurry photos and videos can cause delays to your installation.

What’s my MPAN and how do I find it?

Your Meter Point Administration Number, or MPAN, is a unique number that identifies your home energy supply. You’ll need to provide this on your home survey so that our installation partner can update the relevant databases with the work they are going to carry out when installing your Ohme charger. You can find your MPAN on a recent energy bill or you can request it from your DNO (Distribution Network Operator). You can find out who your DNO is here.

Where is my incoming supply and what does it look like?

The location of the incoming supply will likely differ from home to home. It may be inside your home near your fusebox, or it could be outside, but it’s almost always located beside your electricity meter. Take a look at the photo below to help you find yours – in this example, it’s located in the front left:

Can you do it for me?

Our online home survey takes on average around 20 minutes to complete. If you don’t have the time, or you’re unable to complete the survey yourself, you can choose to add our in-home survey to your order. One of our expert installers will pop round to gather all of the information needed to help plan your installation, so you don’t have to. Contact our Home Charging Team for pricing and next steps.
