With the standard rate of electricity rising on 1st July, EV drivers are being urged to charge their cars with Ohme at home to save more than £90 a month.
Next week will see the Standard Variable Tariff for electricity rise to 26.11p/kWh. While that new rate still remains a substantial saving over a petrol car, the real savings for EV drivers can be had by charging with Ohme on some of the numerous smart EV tariffs available.
Ohme is the UK’s largest home EV charging company and the fastest growing in Europe and its unique software enables it to access the best low price smart electricity tariffs to ensure drivers can charge their cars at the lowest price and lowest CO2 possible.
“This latest rise in the standard tariff should be a great incentive for EV drivers to look at switching to one of the many smart tariffs available to reduce their running costs,” said Ohme CEO David Watson. “The most affordable place for an EV driver to charge will always be at home and switching to a smart tariff with Ohme will help them to save more at a time when the pressures on the cost of living are growing.”
With the volatility in the price of petrol and sales of EVs up more than 23% this year, there are considerable savings for those switching to an electric vehicle. A typical UK driver covering 6800 miles a year would spend £1218.90 on petrol compared to £443.87 for an EV driver charging at the new SVT tariff of 26.11p/kWh.
However, the same EV driver charging with Ohme on a smart tariff such as Intelligent Octopus Go* would spend just £136 for the entire year – a saving of £1082.90, over £90 a month.
Ohme is the official charger provider for Smart, Suzuki, Volvo Cars and the Volkswagen Group in the UK and Ireland as well as Genesis, Hyundai and XPeng in the UK. Ohme is also the official exclusive charger provider for customers on the Motability scheme, the largest fleet operator in the UK, as well as Ford in Ireland and for Hyundai in France.
