Pay for an EV charger in instalments thanks to Ohme and PayPal

Ohme, the UK’s largest home EV charging company and the fastest growing in Europe, is now enabling customers to pay for their charger in instalments with PayPal Pay in 3*.

With sales of EVs in the UK accounting for more than one in five new car sales so far this year, Ohme is committed to ensuring that no driver is left behind in the e-mobility transition, something that is strengthened by this new integration with PayPal.

The new collaboration enables those drivers buying a charger direct from Ohme to make use of PayPal’s flexible options including Pay in 3, which allows customers to manage their budget and break up the interest-free payments for an Ohme ePod or Home Pro charger over two months. Even better, if you sign up for PayPal+ for free you can earn points on your purchase that can be redeemed almost anywhere online when using PayPal at checkout**.

“It’s great to be able to offer buyers an additional route to buying an Ohme charger, by spreading the cost with PayPal,” said Ohme CEO David Watson. “With petrol prices being so high, there’s never been a better time to drive an EV and PayPal’s Pay in 3 option will help more drivers to get faster access to cheaper and cleaner home charging.”

“Many drivers are choosing to switch to an electric vehicle, but for some the upfront cost of getting set up at home can feel like a sticking point. That’s exactly where flexible payment options can make a difference,” said Tamer El-Emary, General Manager for PayPal UK. “By partnering with Ohme, we’re helping to remove a friction point between buying an EV and actually benefiting from the budget-friendly running costs that come with home charging. We hope that offering our flexible payment options will help Ohme to continue to grow.”

Charging an EV from home with an Ohme charger and a smart energy tariff such as Intelligent Octopus Go*** could see a typical driver reduce their running costs to less than £12 a month for 6800 miles over a year. By comparison the same driver fuelling a petrol car over the same distance would spend more than £90 a month.

Ohme is the official charger provider for Mercedes-Benz, Volvo Cars and the Volkswagen Group in the UK and Ireland as well as Genesis, Hyundai, Kia PBV, Smart, Suzuki and XPeng in the UK. Ohme is also the official exclusive charger provider for customers on the Motability scheme, the largest fleet operator in the UK, as well as Ford in Ireland and for Hyundai in France.
