Ohme, the UK’s largest home EV charging company, is now bringing its expertise to shared parking with its new Park & Charge function for its latest ePod S EV charger.
In addition to its popular residential ePod, the new Ohme ePod S is an all-in-one EV charging solution for property developers, offices and landlords. Purpose-built for shared residential or business parking, the ePod S makes it easy to install, manage and use Ohme’s EV infrastructure in communal spaces.
The arrival of the ePod S is perfectly timed with the recently announced Government increase in the OZEV grant to £500 which comes into effect from 1 April. As well as residents in rented properties, the grant is also accessible for landlords and workplace parking via the Workplace Charging Scheme.
The new Ohme ePod S will enable developers to roll out consistent charging infrastructure, both shared residential and sole residential across multiple sites, enabling Ohme to provide a single scalable solution taking care of the hardware, software and payments.
“The Park & Charge function with the new ePod S is a valuable addition to the Ohme range for those after a shared parking solution,” said David Watson, Ohme CEO. “This will not only make it easier for property developers to choose Ohme when deciding on their residential EV charging partner as well as for businesses with shared parking arrangements or landlords.”
The Park & Charge function in the ePod S takes two forms enabling a seamless charging experience for residents and users alongside a full management service. The Building Management Platform enables monitoring of charging behaviour across a location by building managers, allowing them control of access to add or remove users, alter pricing and track charging activity.
Ohme’s unique software and dynamic charging technology can connect with the national grid in real time and automatically adjust an EV’s charging for drivers to take advantage of all the times of low price charging.
Meanwhile, drivers have their own Ohme app which enables them to start and stop charging sessions, pay for charging directly through the platform and view their charge history and session details. Park & Charge could enable drivers to access lower prices of EV charging compared to standard public charging.
Ohme is the official charger provider for Mercedes-Benz, Volvo Cars and the Volkswagen Group in the UK and Ireland as well as Genesis, Hyundai, Smart, Suzuki and XPeng in the UK, it is also the official exclusive charger provider for customers on the Motability scheme, the largest fleet operator in the UK.
