Dynamic smart charging company Ohme is the new official home EV charging partner for housebuilder Avant Homes.
The agreement will see Avant Homes offer Ohme ePod chargers on a range of its new homes, aligning with its commitment to providing energy-efficient housing and implementation of the Future Homes Standard.
Avant Homes Group head of business processes, Rachel Appleby, said: “At Avant, we are constructing and selling quality homes for everyone and we understand the importance of sustainability for our business, our customers and the environment.
“We have partnered with Ohme as its commitment to providing low cost, low C02 charging made it the ideal choice for us and our buyers.”
Avant Homes has plans to reduce the carbon emissions of its new homes by 75-80% compared to homes built under the current building regulations from 2019. Ohme’s future-proof technology is able to integrate with all energy providers and gives EV drivers great choice & affordability.
All Ohme’s EV chargers feature dynamic smart charging technology to connect with the national grid in real time and automatically adjust their charging for drivers to take advantage of all the times of low-price charging with smart off-peak electricity tariffs.
They can also automatically charge when the highest levels of renewable energy are available to help energy providers to balance supply and demand of electricity on the grid.
With the average UK driver covering 6,800 miles a year, smart charging on an off-peak tariff such as Octopus Intelligent in a typical EV would cost just £127.50 for a year’s worth of driving.
At the Standard Variable Tariff that same annual mileage would cost £493. By comparison, the same mileage in an equivalent petrol car would cost a driver more than £1,200.
“This new agreement with Avant Homes underlines Ohme’s commitment to the built environment marketplace,” said David Watson, CEO at Ohme. “This link between Avant Homes and Ohme is a great collaboration and an important step towards a low-carbon future.”
