17 new EV charging hubs for Ireland

EV drivers in Ireland have welcomed the announcement from the Irish Ministry of Transport that 17 new high-speed charging hubs will be installed by the end of 2025.

The first part of a major government plan to grow the country’s network of EV chargers, the chargers will have an average of just 45km between them with an average of seven charging points at each one. They will include both fast and ultra-fast charging points of 150kW or higher.

“Each of these recharging pools providers banks of fast and ultra-fast charging points, so that people can charge their EVs quickly,” said the Ministry of Transport. “This initiative will bolster Ireland’s Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure and promote sustainable transportation. It is the first part of a major plan to ensure that there are more recharging points along our roads. A second grant scheme concentrating on national roads is expected to open later this year.”

“This will complement our other commitments such as the EV purchase grant scheme, which will remain unchanged again next year, our grants for home chargers and the continued VRT reduction for EVs,” said Eamon Ryan, Minister for Transport. “Add this to the greater choice and price competitiveness on the market, we hope more and more people will be encouraged to choose electric.”
