This article explains why we ask, why it\u2019s important, and how you can let us know that you have permission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why permission is important:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We need permission from the property owner to make the changes involved with installing an EV charger such as adding electrical cabling and mounting the charger on an external wall or post. These could affect some structural parts of your home or the ground outside in case we need to bury the cable to supply power to your charger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why you may need permission:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ohme-ev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Permissions-table.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-42051\" style=\"width:1110px;height:auto\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How could my installation impact a shared communal area?<br><br><\/strong>Examples include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The charger will be installed in communal parking areas \u2013 please note we will only be able to install if you have a designated parking space<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The cables supplying the charger will run via a shared area like a corridor, stairway, garden etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When the charger is in use, the charging cable might cross a shared area like a pathway, pavement or garden<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Note: To avoid cables running across communal areas and causing a trip hazard, groundwork to bury the cable is likely required at an additional cost. If this is the case, we\u2019ll let you know ahead of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>What happens if I want to install it without permission?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Without receiving the relevant permissions, you risk being ordered to remove the charger, by your Landlord, Local Council or Building Manager at your own expense. If your installation is managed by Ohme, getting the relevant permissions is a necessity or we won\u2019t carry out the installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What if my landlord asks for more information about the installation before granting permission?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not to worry, we have plenty of useful information for landlords available in this <a href=\"https:\/\/ohme-ev.com\/ie\/support\/useful-information-for-landlords-local-councils-and-housing-associations\/\">help centre article.<\/a><br><br><strong>How do I let you know that I have permission?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will first ask for permission during the online home survey. Usually, this is enough.
